Library User Group Meeting
November 16, 2021
The purpose of the library user group is to form collaborative relationships and share expertise relative to library and information services among Trumbull and Ashtabula County library/media professionals.
Agenda
"Better Together" Library User Group Meeting Theme
We are "Better Together"!
"Better Together" is our theme because together we can Support, Share, Encourage, Learn, Grow, and Laugh with other libraries, teachers, and students when we are together. The pandemic made many people feel alone and we know that together we are better. Your library is "Better Together" with other libraries. Your library is "Better Together" with teachers. And most importantly, your library is "Better Together" with students.
NEOMIN wants to provide a means to collaborate and share (via a monthly Padlet) what your library is doing, or planning to do, to Support, Share, Encourage, Learn, Grow, and Laugh with other libraries, teachers, and students this school year. We will then use monthly user group meetings to discuss shared ideas and talk openly about library successes and failures.
Each month we plan to focus on one topic area:
September - First meeting (Let's get started!)
October - Support ---> Here's the link to the Padlet for October!!! https://padlet.com/autumn_dodson/support
November - Share ---> Here's the link to the Padlet for November - https://padlet.com/autumn_dodson/share
December - Encourage ---> Here's the link to the Padlet for December- https://padlet.com/autumn_dodson/encourage
January - Learn
February - Grow
March - Laugh
April - Last meeting (sum everything up!)
Sample ideas include, "My library supports teachers by emailing a monthly library newsletter", "I supported my students by implementing online holds to allow for continued circulation during the pandemic", "My library supports other libraries by attending monthly library user group meetings and sharing expertise and forming collaborative relationships with other professionals." Ideas can be INFOhio-related or not! Share any and all ideas!! What you are doing in your library matters!
HOW CAN YOUR LIBRARY CONTRIBUTE?
NEOMIN wants to know what you are doing and wants to share those ideas with other libraries in our area so they, too, can be "Better Together". The goal is to type your ideas each month in the Padlet before the next user group meeting (where we will discuss ideas). I am providing a printable sheet (PDF attached) where you can jot down what you're doing/have done in October, so you can enter them later into the Padlet (before the meeting). You could also just go directly to the Padlet and enter ideas as you go! Your ideas can be anonymous, if you choose. P-L-E-A-S-E PARTICIPATE, even if it's ONE IDEA... your ideas will help others and make this work!
I am excited to see what you are doing in our library. Should you have any questions regarding this email, please reach out to me and I'll explain further. See everyone at the next library user group on November 16th from 1-3 PM in NEOMIN's training lab. Please register if you plan to attend.

NEOMIN/INFOhio Updates
Patron Update Issue Resolution
- It was discovered that patron updates stopped working October 11, 2021. Meaning that new students were not being updated in Workflows, and changes to existing data was not being loaded.
- Because new statewide changes were already in the works through INFOhio, NEOMIN decided to fully-implement the new process, ahead of the planned December timeframe.
- The new process was tested a few times (INFOhio needed to make an adjustment to accommodate middle names exceeding 25 characters) and then implemented on November 10th, 2021.
- NOTE: If you were manually creating students, you will want to DISCONTINUE that process as updates are now occurring nightly.
INFOhio's Recent DDOS Attacks - Alternate ER Website
November 9, 2021: As the INFOhio team worked to stabilize all INFOhio websites, they established an alternative method for accessing the digital resources licensed on behalf of Ohio’s PreK-12 students and educators.
Alternate Website to Access Digital Resources: https://er.infohio.org/
For INFOhio uptime information, status, and scheduled maintenance notifications, please visit https://status.managementcouncil.org/.
Alternate Website to Access Digital Resources: https://er.infohio.org/
- The authentication method in place on this site is IP recognition. IP addresses recognized as coming from an Ohio user will be able to access the resources, so there is no need to log in with an institution-specific username and password.
- This site will only be active when INFOhio sites are down or unstable. When INFOhio sites are stable, users attempting to access https://er.infohio.org/ will be redirected to the main INFOhio website.
