Webinar: New Tech Tools to Try in the New Year
1/11/2018, 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM
The new year brings with it a new opportunity to try new things to support learning for all students. In this fast-paced webinar, you'll learn about ten free tech tools you can use with students across all grade levels and subject areas, and for your own personal productivity.
INFOhio Website Update - Geolocation and persistent login are now active (review handout).
Geolocation means that when a person is in Ohio, they will automatically be logged into www.infohio.org. No additional password is needed. Geolocation will be used on the INFOhio website as the third step in the authentication process.
NOTE: It is important to note that the "previous" or "remembered" login is NOT used unless the user's IP is not recognized. In this way, the school login always takes precedence.
Geolocation means that when a person is in Ohio, they will automatically be logged into www.infohio.org. No additional password is needed. Geolocation will be used on the INFOhio website as the third step in the authentication process.
- Step 1: IP Authentication. The user's IP address will be used to determine if the user is at a school. If so, they will be logged in with the school login. The system will "remember" this login.
- Step 2: Use Previous Login. If the user's IP is not found, the system will check to see if a login has been "remembered". If so, the user will be logged in with that login. A cookie is used to remember the last login used by a user on a machine. In this way, if a machine is taken home, the user will still be logged in with their school account automatically.
- Step 3: Geolocation. If the user had not previously logged in OR the user has cookies turned off, the system will check to see if the user is in the state of Ohio. If so, the user will be logged in with the state wide username/pasword. Again, this login will be remembered.
- Step 4: Manual Login. Finally, if the user's IP is not recognized and they have not logged into that device within the last year and they are outside of Ohio, the user will need to log in manually with their district username and password or the statewide username and password.
NOTE: It is important to note that the "previous" or "remembered" login is NOT used unless the user's IP is not recognized. In this way, the school login always takes precedence.
